On May 23rd local time in Abu Dhabi, Dongfang Honghua, a subsidiary of DEC, reached in-depth cooperation with the world's top oil enterprise in the Middle East. Further to the awarding of several artificial island cluster well smart drilling rigs worth RMB 1.5 billion in 2024, Dongfang Honghua won several more drilling rig orders with a total amount exceeding RMB 1.5 billion, demonstrating the international competitiveness of China's high-end equipment manufacturing.

The drilling rig equipment provided for this project is a new generation of smart drilling rig products innovatively created by Dongfang Honghua, integrating the dual-core system of "AI enlabled+ island cluster drilling". With the integrated design of mechatronics, it adopts six core technologies including Smart Drilling, Automated Pipe Handling, Offline Stands Building, Zone Management, Battery Energy Storage, and Equipment Condition Monitoring. Its innovative walking system perfectly adapts to the needs of multi-row cluster well operations on artificial islands, greatly improving the operating efficiency, reliability, mobility and economical operation.

The CEO of this oil enterprise commented: “These next generation island rigs, built with embedded artificial intelligence (AI), represent a leap forward in technology, enhancing safety, efficiency and performance，and will be the key to promoting the realization of the enterprise's production capacity target ”.

▲In December 2011, Dongfang Honghua has signed contract for 9 sets 3000HP artificial island rigs with this Client and was successfully delivered in 2014, the top 5 longest wells in the world have been delivered from the Zakum islands off the coast of Abu Dhabi by these rigs, while the most recently delivered world record was over 16,154 meters.

▲In 2023, Dongfang Honghua released HH Smart rig 1.0, which contains six technologies of ‘rapid tripping system’, ‘multi-source sensing’, ‘variable frequency direct drive’, ‘green and low-carbon’, ‘digital drilling’ and ‘intelligent operation& maintenance’, which defines a new generation of oil and gas exploitation model with such new functions as operation process standardization, drilling activities automation, drilling process intelligence, and low carbonization of power energy etc.
